Buying a motorcycle online with Tilley’s Motorcycles is simple, secure and fully transparent. Whether you’re purchasing a brand‑new bike or a quality used bike, this guide explains exactly how the process works from checkout to collection.


Buying a New Motorcycle Online

1. Buy Your Bike Online

All new motorcycles can be purchased outright through our website. Simply add the bike to your basket and complete checkout.

The price shown is:

£X,XXX + OTR

The OTR fee is not charged online and is paid on collection.

2. We Contact You

Once your order is placed, we’ll get in touch to confirm:

  • Colour choice (if applicable)

  • Availability Time

  • Estimated preparation time

  • Collection location

3. Pre‑Delivery Inspection (PDI)

Before collection, every new motorcycle undergoes a full PDI, including:

  • Safety checks

  • Fluid levels

  • Torque settings

  • Battery check

  • Road test

  • Software/ECU updates (where applicable)

4. Registration & OTR Preparation

We handle:

  • DVLA registration

  • Number plate fitting

  • 12 months road tax

  • Final safety checks

OTR fees are:

  • 125cc: £150

  • 125–500cc: £200

  • 700cc: £300

These are paid in‑store on collection.

5. Collection Day

When your motorcycle is ready, we’ll arrange a collection appointment.

Please bring:

  • Photo ID

  • Payment for the OTR fee

  • Any documents we’ve requested

Your bike will be fully prepared, fuelled and ready to ride.


Buying a Used Motorcycle Online

1. Buy Online or Contact Us

Used motorcycles can also be purchased outright online. Once ordered, we’ll confirm availability and preparation time.

2. Workshop Check

Before collection, every used motorcycle receives:

  • Mechanical inspection

  • Safety check

  • Road test

  • Basic service (if required)

  • MOT (if due)

3. Collection

Used bikes are usually ready sooner than new bikes. We’ll confirm the exact timeframe when we contact you.


Collection Information

Where to Collect

Motorcycle collections take place from our shop at 172 Portland Road, allowing a technician to hand over your bike and answer any technical questions.

What to Bring

  • Photo ID

  • Payment for OTR (new bikes only)

  • Any documents we’ve requested

What Happens on Collection

  • Walk‑around of the bike

  • Controls and feature explanation

  • Service history confirmation (used bikes)

  • Paperwork completion

  • Key handover

  • Ride away with confidence


Click & Collect for Clothing & Accessories

Clothing, helmets, parts and accessories are usually ready for pickup within 24 hours from our main shop location.

You’ll receive an email when your order is ready.
